Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about UnclutterMail.
Getting Started
How do I connect my email accounts?
After signing up, go to the Accounts page and click "Connect Gmail" or "Connect Microsoft 365". You'll be redirected to sign in with your email provider and grant UnclutterMail permission to read your emails. We use OAuth, so we never see your password.
What email providers do you support?
We currently support Gmail (including Google Workspace) and Microsoft 365 (Outlook.com, Office 365, and Exchange Online). Both personal and business accounts are supported.
How long does the initial sync take?
The initial sync typically takes 2-10 minutes depending on the backfill depth you choose and the volume of emails in your inbox. You can start using UnclutterMail while the sync is in progress.
How far back can I import emails?
When connecting an account, you can choose to import the last 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or 1 year of emails. More historical data means a longer initial sync, but helps our AI better learn your patterns.
The Feed
What is The Feed?
The Feed is our HEY-inspired view for newsletters, updates, and promotions. Instead of cluttering your inbox, these emails are displayed "already-open" in a beautiful scrollable feed. Browse at your leisure without feeling overwhelmed.
What emails appear in The Feed vs Important?
The Feed contains newsletters, automated updates (GitHub, Slack, etc.), and promotional emails. Important contains personal emails from real people and transaction receipts. Our AI classifies each email automatically, but you can reclassify any message.
How do I change where emails go?
Click the category badge on any email and select a new category (Newsletter, Update, Promotion, Personal, or Receipt). Your choice will be remembered. You can also create Sender Rules to always route emails from specific senders a certain way.
Can I mute specific senders?
Yes! Click the "Mute" button on any email to hide all future emails from that sender. You can also mute entire domains (e.g., all emails from @marketing.company.com). Manage your muted senders from the Sender Rules page.
How do I save an email for later?
Click the bookmark icon on any email to save it. Saved emails appear in the Saved section, accessible from the navigation. This is perfect for emails you want to revisit later.
Daily Digest
What is the Daily Digest?
The Daily Digest is a single email sent to you each day summarizing everything in your Feed. It's organized by category (newsletters, updates, promotions) and highlights your top senders. One email instead of dozens.
How do I change when I receive it?
Go to your Profile settings and set your preferred digest time (e.g., 8:00 AM) and timezone. The digest will be sent at that time in your local timezone.
Can I disable the digest?
Yes. In your Profile settings, toggle off "Daily Digest" to stop receiving digest emails. You can still browse The Feed in the app anytime.
What's included in the digest?
The digest includes all unread emails from The Feed that arrived since your last digest. Emails are grouped by category with snippets from each. Muted senders are excluded.
AI Reply Drafts
How do AI replies work?
When viewing an email in the Important section, click "Generate Reply" to have our AI draft a response. The AI reads the email context and generates a reply that matches your writing style. You can then copy the draft and paste it into your email client to send.
Does UnclutterMail learn my writing style?
Yes! Our AI analyzes your writing patterns (formality, verbosity, common phrases) to generate replies that sound like you. The more you use the app, the better it gets at matching your tone.
Can I generate multiple reply options?
Yes! Click "Generate 3 Options" to get replies in different tones: Concise (brief and to-the-point), Friendly (warm and personable), and Professional (formal and business-like). Choose the one that fits the situation.
Can the AI send emails for me?
No. UnclutterMail uses readonly access to your email. We cannot send, delete, or modify any emails. When you want to send a reply, you copy the draft and paste it into your actual email client (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) to send.
Sender Rules
What are sender rules?
Sender rules let you control how emails from specific senders or domains are handled. You can set rules to "Always Mute" (hide from your feed) or "Always Include" (never mute, even if similar senders are muted).
How do I mute a sender?
The easiest way is to click the "Mute" button on any email. Alternatively, go to Sender Rules and add a new rule with the sender's email address or domain.
What's the difference between email and domain rules?
Email rules apply to a specific address (e.g., [email protected]). Domain rules apply to all emails from that domain (e.g., everyone @company.com). Use domain rules to mute all marketing from a company at once.
How do I undo a mute?
Go to Sender Rules, find the rule you want to remove, and click the delete button. Emails from that sender will appear in your feed again.
Security & Privacy
Is my email data secure?
Yes. We use AES-256 encryption for OAuth tokens, TLS for all data in transit, and encrypted backups. We store only email metadata (sender, subject, snippet) - not full email bodies. See our Security page for details.
What permissions do you have?
We use readonly OAuth permissions only. For Gmail, that's gmail.readonly. For Microsoft, that's Mail.Read. We cannot send, delete, or modify your emails.
Can you send emails on my behalf?
No, never. We have readonly access only. When our AI generates a reply draft, you must copy it and send it yourself from your email client. We cannot access your contacts or calendar either.
How do I disconnect an account?
Go to Accounts and click "Disconnect" next to the account you want to remove. This revokes our access immediately. You can also revoke access directly from your Google or Microsoft account settings.
How do I delete my data?
Go to Profile and click "Delete Account". This permanently deletes your account and all associated data within 30 days. Backups are purged within 90 days. You can also email [email protected] to request data deletion.
Billing & Plans
What plans are available?
We offer two plans: Starter at €15/month (up to 5 email accounts) and Pro at €29/month (unlimited accounts + priority features). See our Pricing page for full details.
